Local Lancaster area readers, WeeUsables, a HUGE children’s consignment sale is coming later this month! This is the place to go to replenish your kids’ wardrobes with beautiful clothes at great prices. And they don’t just have clothing. You can shop for toys, baby gear, and lots more. There’s also an opportunity to give back to a local moms’ charity in our neck of the woods. I have all the details for you so grab your calendar and save these dates.
WeeUsables Lancaster is March 27-27, 2014.
WeeUsables, Lancaster’s largest consignment event, provides a venue for parents to both make and save money on quality used items for their children every spring and fall. The next spring/summer event will be held at the Lancaster Host Resort’s Expo Center on March 27-29, 2014. The address for the event: Lancaster Host Resort’s Expo Center, 2300 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
Admission is FREE during regular hours. (all hours listed below) Dozens of WeeHelpers work together to make WeeUsables a success. In exchange for their time, WeeUsables allows WeeHelpers to shop before the regular and half-price public sales. Early shopping is an advantageous and often coveted benefit. Just after the WeeHelper pre-sale is the consignor pre-sale followed by the first-time parent/grandparent pre-sale. This is a registration only event.
The “Stuff-A-Bag for $10” portion of the event will be on March 29th from 5:00-6:00 pm.
This event is awesome because it’s a great deal, and because it will benefit the Mom’s House of Lancaster, a local organization with a mission to guide at-risk single parents through the process of achieving educational goals. Lori Hartmann, WeeUsables owner, is committed not only to easing the financial burden of parents, but also to giving back to the community. WeeUsables’ Stuff-A-Bag event, held at the conclusion of the event, has raised nearly $19,000 for local charities over the past five years. Hartmann has arranged for all the proceeds from the Stuff-a-Bag portion of this upcoming event to go to Mom’s House of Lancaster. Shoppers are also encouraged to donate items for the Mom’s House wish list, which includes basic household items. Leading up to the sale WeeUsables is collecting donations to provide the moms at Mom’s House with gift certificates to shop at the WeeUsables event. “Mom’s House is a great resource to help single parents achieve their educational goals and we are pleased to raise money for their mission,” said Hartmann.
What will you find at WeeUsables?
The public is invited to shop the 90,000 items in the 26,000 sq. ft. facility for three days. Many families have come to rely on WeeUsables as a place to find necessities for their children, often finding piles of bargains. WeeUsables has accepted 550 consignors who will be selling clothes, toys, books, strollers, highchairs, video games and so much more. There will be more merchandise and more clothing racks to peruse than in past sales. All items are pre-priced, tagged and organized by category, gender and size (from preemie to teen). WeeUsables has added more checkout stations in effort to make it an efficient process. More than 4,000 attended the fall 2013 WeeUsables event, and even more are expected for the spring event. WeeUsables Consignors register prior to the event and use an online tagging system to price everything they want to sell, from clothing and shoes to toys, games, and baby gear. They print and attach tags to all their items, then drop them off at the Expo Center before the sale is open to shoppers. Consignors can choose to pick up their unsold items at the end of the event or have them donated. Three weeks after the sale, consignors receive their checks for 70% of their sales, or more if they help at the sale as a WeeHelper. Consignors drop off additional merchandise on Thursday afternoon, offering a new selection of items for shoppers that evening.
This year, WeeUsables will introduce the Bounce Back Sale on Friday March 28th.
Those who shop on March 26th or March 27th will receive a coupon for $5 off a $35 purchase. The coupon is only valid on Friday, March 28th during the Bounce Back Sale.
