There are many people who are on the spectrum that you may not be aware have autism. It is more prevalent than people think.

My friend from high school has a son with autism. She had to advocate very strongly for him to be put into a regular classroom – the school didn’t even want to try it to see if it might work. She didn’t give up, and he was able, with some extra help, to succeed, and have a good social relationship with the other kids. Kids with autism CAN FUNCTION! Don’t just assume they can’t do anything. Good article.

I have worked in child care, schools, and counseling and more people need to be educated on this topic. Its great to see an article like this to help educate people about the basics of Autism.
