I was provided with a complimentary Disney Side @Home Celebration kit to throw our party and spread some pixie dust! The thoughts, ideas, and opinions in this post are 100% mine. You can read my full disclosure policy here.
As you might have seen several weeks ago, we were invited to host a #DisneySide @Home Celebration . So exciting! Check out what was inside our party kit that got us inspired. We then had to decide on a theme. Easy enough for my kids!
Our Disney Side is definitely Disney movies. We love, love, love them and have tons of them on DVD so this was a lot of fun and super simple for me. We wanted our party to be fun and enjoyed by all, while at the same time not breaking my back to decorate and get the house ready, and not breaking my bank to pay for it all. I think you’ll love some of our ideas!
We kept this super simple but it was awesome. I did use the tablecloth we were sent and some fun metallic streamer thing that we hung from the lights. Otherwise all of our decorations were our own movies and toys! I covered my son’s train table with the tablecloth and we set up our Disney movies all along the back edge and interspersed some stuffed animals and toys all over the place. It came out awesome and was perfect for our theme!
We played three quick and easy games that the kids (and adults) had fun with!
Disney Movies Trivia
First up: Disney Movies Trivia! Click here or on the image above and you can print this for yourself. This was SO fun! It’s amazing what you do and don’t remember. Test yourself and see how you do! We divided our party goers up into 3 groups and made sure each group had an adult to moderate.
Pin the Nose on Olaf
Seriously, can you even believe my husband drew that? I still can’t and I haven’t taken it down off the wall since our party. Amazing. Even if your husband isn’t a surprise Van Gogh, you can easily draw your best snowman on a piece of white poster board. We cut carrot noses out of orange cardstock and this whole game cost us just the price of the paper and tape.
The kids did such a great job! This was really fun.
Finding Nemo Race
For this game I divided the kids up into two teams. Each child was given a spoon and a gummy fish. Swedish fish, whatever candy fish you can find will work. Then I had them balance their fish on their spoon, put the spoon in their mouths, and race to a bowl several feet in front of them and dump their fish inside. The first team to fill their fishbowl wins!
We did offer some prizes for the winners, all found in the dollar section at Target. They have cute drinking cups with Disney characters on them for $.99 and we found some fun coloring books, too. The kids loved them!
The food was just perfect for an afternoon party. Plan it at a time that’s not mealtime and make life a bit easier. Then you only need to serve snacks. We had lemonade to drink, chips, pretzels, grapes, and I made these adorable MONSTERS INC. cookies. I actually found this key lime cookie mix in Target along with the green key lime icing. The little eyes on top are Wilton (also found in Target!). I put green sugar on top of the icing and that was it. So easy. You could definitely just do regular sugar cookies and dye some white icing with green food coloring. The kids LOVED these!
We used a bunch of the awesome favors that Disney sent us, but I did have more kids here than goodies so we had to supplement a bit. I hit Target and bought some Disney-themed fruit snacks. Kids love those and they’re inexpensive. I found some sheets of stickers and tattoos that I cut up into singles to give to each child. The dollar stores have lots of little goodie bag things, too.
Each guest also got one of these 2014 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Line-Up bookmarks. They’re for you, too! Click here or on the image below and print them on 8.5″x11″ cardstock. And if you want to learn more about these films I’ve got all the goods here.
Our party was so much fun! My kids had a blast and I think all their friends and the moms and dads that came loved it too. And by keeping it simple we could do it without a huge expense and I was able to enjoy the party too and not stress about it. Thanks for checking out our Disney Side!
If you plan a Disney movies party I’d love to see what creative ideas you come up with!
