Your kids might already be familiar with the beloved Elephant and Piggie series of children’s books by Mo Willems. My kids love this author and I’m so excited that we’ve been invited to partner with Disney Books to share with you the latest (and last – boohoo!) book in this series, The Thank You Book.
To celebrate the release of the book May has been declared #Thankorama Month! So we are just going around and thanking anyone and everyone. I took the thanking party into my son’s first grade class and we had the best time! Thanking people with a bunch of 6-7 year-olds is not to be missed!
The Thank You Book by Mo Willems
Elephant and Piggie books are so endearing and are written in a way that really engages kids. My kids (even my 10 year-old daughter) loved this story when I read it to them.
Gerald is careful. Piggie is not.
Piggie cannot help smiling. Gerald can.
Gerald worries so that Piggie does not have to.Gerald and Piggie are best friends.
In The Thank You Book, Piggie wants to thank EVERYONE. But Gerald is worried Piggie will forget someone . . . someone important.
You’ll see below some of my pics of the #Thankorama party we had in my son’s first grade class, and these kids LOVE this author!

This book trailer literally make me laugh out loud! Watch it with the kids. It’s a fun way to get in the thanking spirit and meet Mo Willems!
The #Thankorama Party
As a Mo Willems ambassador, Disney Books sent me The Thank You Book along with some other really fun #Thankorama event goodies! I couldn’t keep them all to myself and my son has the best first grade class where I volunteer weekly, so I was thrilled to be able to share these activities with them and read the book to the children. They adored it!
After reading the book we set up some fun writing activities for the kids. See that? Thanking people is educational too! Two birds, one stone. You can find a bunch of these resources on the Thankorama website to print out along with an interactive online spinning wheel!
The children wrote so many cute thank you notes! Thank you for taking care of me when I am sick. Thank you for being my Mommy. We wrote thank yous to teachers, friends, parents, even to our pets!
The children used the Elephant and Piggie stickers to create their own stories. I love this one that one little girl wrote to a friend.
My son wrote this word bubble story (just like Mo Willems does!). The teacher told me this was the first time they had been quiet all day! ha! Win!
I have some fun printables you can share with your kids to kick off your #Thankorama! Click on the image above to print out a full-size ‘I Will Thank’ bubble in pink.
And here’s one in gray, too. Just click the image to get the full-sized printable.
I would LOVE to see your #Thankorama images! Just post on social using the hashtag (and feel free to tag me at @SeeMomClick so I can find you!).
No party is complete without a treat so a Google search for ‘pig cookies’ lead me to these Pillsbury Pig Butt Cookies. How I wish I could take credit for this. The kids flipped over them and I had so much fun making them. A perfect Elephant and Piggie treat, which, by the way, got me LOTS of thank yous!
