I was provided with complimentary tickets to Sight & Sound Theatres in Lancaster PA in collaboration with Philly Social Media Moms in exchange sharing this review with our readers. You can read my full disclosure policy here.
I’ve lived in Lancaster County for over 10 years and can’t believe I’d never visited Sight & Sound Theatres before now. I just went with my family last weekend to see their production of Joseph and WOW, you guys. It was simply amazing. I think I’ve told everyone I know, all my friends, fellow soccer moms, everyone, that they have to get to this theater and see a show.
Located right off of route 30, Sight & Sound is in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country and whether you’re a local like me, or visiting the area as a tourist and outlet shopper, you need to add a stop here on your must-do list. First, the theater is just gorgeous. I knew when we walked in that we were going into a special place.
Everything inside (and out) just feels BIG. And that’s how the show is too. Larger than life.
One of the really cool displays in the lobby features Samson, a new show coming in 2016 that looks amazing. They show a few clips from other shows while you’re waiting for your show to begin, so you get a feel for what else you’d like to come back and see. My kids are waiting for the return of Noah. We all think it looks awesome!
The lobby is spacious with a couple of gift shop areas to grab yourself a souvenir. This particular one is located right next to the concession stand.
Yes, concessions! They have a bunch of goodies including dinner-type items so you can actually eat a meal if you’d like during the show. We grabbed some hot dogs, lemonade, and a little candy which made it even more fun for the kids.
Once we got our snack attack taken care of, we headed into the theater. It is just stunning and really big. I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house, either. We were seated on the left side of the theater and had a great view of the stage. At several different times during the show, actors and animals (there are so many live animals in the show – my kids LOVED this!) go up and down the aisles, through the audience.
You’re not actually allowed to take photos inside of the theater so I don’t have any to show you of the actual show or what the seating looks like (you can find a lot of pics from the theater right here). So let me share the trailer with you, and you can enjoy part of what we got to see:

This show. It was just incredible. The tag line of Sight & Sound Theatres is ‘bringing the Bible to life’ and they honestly do. My kids were both in tears at the end of the show, they were so touched by the story of forgiveness and God’s faithfulness.
The story is told so well, it’s perfect for guests of any age. If you’re worried about it being appropriate for children, know that these shows are family-friendly and it’s been my experience that kids love a good Bible story! Mine were completely enthralled. The sets are stunning, the acting is outstanding. We were really blown away by this production and have talked about it several times since leaving the show…mostly about what we’re going to come back and see next!
I want to mention that if you’re looking for an awesome gift idea, you can purchase Sight & Sound gift cards. I’d LOVE to get one of these for Christmas!
We had such a great family night seeing Joseph. I highly recommend it to anyone, really. Families, adults, youth groups. Parking is free, the dress code is pretty relaxed since many visitors are traveling in the area, and you don’t have to be super religious to enjoy the experience.
Joseph is playing at the Lancaster Sight & Sound Theatres through October 17. You can learn more about Joseph and the other shows coming to Sight & Sound Theatres this year (and buy tickets!) on their website. Be sure to follow along on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, too. And if you want to get a better look at the shows, you’ll find some great clips on their YouTube channel.
