There’s a sweet little cupcakery here in Lancaster County, PA that I’ve fallen completely in love with. Scratch has a shop in Lititz and Ephrata and I think I can safely say they have the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. In my life. I have a friend who’s my go-to for all the best local hot spots and she told me a hundred times, “Lindsay, you *have* to go to Scratch!” So one day I went and now I’m addicted. The end. Okay, actually that’s the beginning. Let me tell you about your new favorite cupcakes!
The owner of Scratch is a sweet lady named Laura who I can’t say enough about. Like so many of us, she’s a busy mom and wife and she has an amazing product and thriving business. A big kudos to her. I’ve been in both the Ephrata and Lititz shop (stop, I was working, I had to!) and the cupcakes aren’t the only sweet things about Scratch. Both shops are adorable and I was so impressed by the friendly staff working at each location. They were so nice to my kids and helped me make the impossible decisions on which cupcakes to grab to fill this box.
These are the ones we selected. You might notice a couple of duplicates in there. Some things are just every-man-for-himself at my house. My daughter and I were not about to share a Cookie Dough cupcake with each other. I love her, but get your own, kid. And so that’s what we did.
Leo got first pick and went with the Cookies & Cream. You can imagine how hard it was to choose. Just look at them. Nom nom.
My husband and son both ate the Cookies & Cream, a moist chocolate cupcake topped with Oreo buttercream frosting and an Oreo cookie. I was cut from the queue to try this one but both of my guys said this one was their ultimate favorite!
This is the lovely Strawberry Shortcake cookie. We love the special little toppers on each cupcake! The vanilla cupcake was soooo moist and the strawberry buttercream icing was perfect. Just enough strawberry flavor that you knew what you were eating but it wasn’t a fake, overpowering flavor. They nailed it!
Scratch has a couple of seasonal cupcakes that they feature and when we stopped in this Pumpkin Patch cupcake was on the shelf and we grabbed one. It’s a pumpkin spice cupcake with pumpkin spice buttercream icing. If you like all things pumpkin, ’tis the season after all, you’ll love this one. In the Ephrata shop they even sell lattes which is perfect with this treat!
Can you guess what flavor this is? If you guess Twix you guessed right! Brown sugar buttermilk cake filled with chocolate ganache, topped with caramel buttercream, caramel & ganache drizzle, and freshly chopped twix candy bars. ‘Nuf said.
This one…oh, this one. I loved it so much. This is the Salted Caramel cupcake. Caramel-filled brown sugar buttermilk cake topped with salted caramel buttercream, salted caramel drizzle, sugar sprinkle, and a white fondant flower. Did you see the part where the cupcake is filled with caramel? I mean, this shouldn’t even be legal.
It was fair week in town when we stopped in so Scratch was featuring something special in honor of the festivities: Raspberry Cotton Candy cupcakes! In addition to being beautiful, they were delicious! What’s not to like about cotton candy buttercream frosting?
I’m a total chocolate peanut butter addict so this one had my name all over it. The Peanut Butter Lover cupcake is fantastic: moist chocolate cake and peanut butter icing. Win.
The sweet gal that helped us in the Lititz shop told me this one is her absolute favorite because it has a bit of everything in it. This is the Dirty Blonde: Caramel-filled moist vanilla cake topped with peanut butter buttercream, homemade caramel, and chocolate ganache drizzle. This was my daughter’s favorite, my beloved child that wouldn’t share with me. I think it’s sort of similar to the Salted Caramel so I know it was amazing.
And I’ve saved the best for last because seriously, look at that. That’s the Cookie Dough cupcake and I daydream about that little ball of cookie dough on top. I don’t even have words to tell you how good this cupcake is. It’s close-your-eyes-and-say-mmm good. The cupcake is vanilla and the icing is brown sugar buttercream plus chocolate chips and that egg-free ball of cookie dough. I have to go get one tomorrow. Is it tomorrow yet?
Now that I have you drooling all over your keyboard (don’t worry, I’m drooling too) there are a few things about Scratch you’ll want to know:
Follow on Facebook for up-to-date news. This is where the give you discount codes (all the time!) and tell you what they’re featuring each day and when they sell out.
They use the very best ingredients. I love cupcakes and I’ve had a few in my day. You can tell with the first bite that this isn’t just another cupcakery. This is for real fantastic stuff and that’s not just a line they feed you. No additives, no preservatives, all good stuff.
They will bake for your special occasion. Having a party? If you need special cupcakes for a birthday or holiday get together, or whatever you’re partying over, Scratch is now taking special orders. If you want to WOW your guests, here ya go.
If you’re local to the Lancaster area or within driving distance, you definitely have to make a Scratch stop. Seriously, they’re worth a drive, they’re THAT good. Laurie’s cupcakes are fabulous just as you stated in your review. We have been visiting the Lititz shop for a while now and I have to say that the cupcakes are the best I have ever had. They are simply addictive and I guarantee you will be making repeat trips. I would love to win some. It’s always a good time to have a Scratch cupcake!

I love this cupcake store. The dangerous part is I can walk to it from my home. Lol! I Love the Salted Caramel and the Davis as well as all the others. Lol! Our little town of Ephrata is blessed to have Scratch and they are amazing because they use some of their profits as donations to important charities throughout the world! It also makes me happy to see someone who I went to High School succeed! Way to go Laura 🙂
