It’s probably common knowledge by now that I have a major sweet tooth. My lucky (I think?) kids inherited this gene, too. Combine this with one of our favorite summer treats, ice cream, and we came up with a sweet summer challenge.
There are tons of great places near us to go out for ice cream and we like to explore and test them all out. So this summer we’re embarking on the 2012 Summer Ice Cream Challenge. Each time we go out for ice cream we have to hit a different place. (This might be 10 times all summer. I like ice cream like I like to breath, but everything in (relative) moderation.) After we indulge we discuss our review. How was the ice cream? Good selection? Creamy? Tasty? What did we think of the service? Atmosphere? Yes, we’re real restaurant reviewers here. We rank our experience on a scale of 1 to 10. Somehow everyone always chooses 6, but whatever. 🙂
I always bring the camera when we go on an ice cream adventure. (By the way, the best trips are when the kids are already in their pajamas and we surprise them!) We take pictures of our ice cream and the restaurant. At the end of the summer, I’m going to find a great deal on a photo book and document our ice cream adventures. We should have a nice book of our favorite ice cream joints, and a nice memory of some of our summer adventures.
We have such fun with this challenge that we decided to throw in a second one: playgrounds! The kids love to find new playgrounds and test out their skills on the monkey bars and swings. We’ve hit up a few this summer and have lots more to visit over the next couple months.
So tell me! What are you doing this summer for family fun?
