You might remember when I first met and fell in love with John Wm. Macy’s CheeseSticks last year. This year they’ve updated their logo and packaging, but the taste is just as amazing! Here’s the new look and a brand new delicious recipe.
John Wm. Macy’s Family Bakery
I was first introduced to John Wm. Macy’s CheeseSticks last summer and totally fell in love. My entire family just chowed down on the assortment of products they sent us, and every time we saw a box in Costco or the grocery store my kids would yell, “Mommy, there are those CheeseSticks!!!” They are SO good in so many ways.
This year I was thrilled to partner with the brand again at the Summer Fancy Food Show because they were revealing a new brand identity! John Wm. Macy’s CheeseSticks is now John Wm. Macy’s Family Bakery. And that makes perfect sense because they are a family company, and they do have products (some of my faves!) other than their CheeseSticks. They have a snazzy new logo and packaging to go with it.
This is John Macy himself at the show this summer behind some of his product. I love the new packaging they revealed! It’s a cleaner look with a focus more on the flavor. They spent a ton of time doing market research and surveying their customers to really understand how to communicate their brand values – family and quality at the top of that list.
The colors of the boxes make it easy to identify the different flavors. SO many to choose from that I love!
And these are very popular (look for the in the deli case area in your grocery store). Can you believe that during the busy holiday season John Wm. Macy’s uses more than one ton of cheese per day?! We are a serious bunch of cheese lovahs in this country, aren’t we?
There are 5 flavors of CheeseSticks. We have a difference of opinion on which is the favorite. I like the Garlic Romano and my daughter is obsessed with Original Cheddar. They’re both amazing in a bowl of tomato soup so there’s at least one thing we can agree on. 😉
CheeseCrisps are more like a cracker and perfect to serve with a dip. They’re thick too, so they don’t break easily and will hold up to a heavy dip.
Finally we have the SweetSticks which are like a bite of Heaven to me. A morning that starts with a Java Cinnamon SweetStick dunked in a hot cup of coffee is a very good morning, indeed.
SweetSticks are to die for in hot chocolate, ice cream, or in my recipe below. Read on to get that! I have a bit of a sweet tooth so it’s not suprising that these are my favorite of their products. But the great thing about these SweetSticks is that they are just mildly sweet. It’s really just enough to satisfy your craving but not leave you feeling like you need a nap. What comes through is the flavor – the vanilla, chocolate, and cinnamon – all wrapped in a crispy dough. Perfection.

Madagascar Vanilla Cheesecake Cupcakes Recipe
I LOVE cheesecake and thought SweetSticks would make the perfect crust for these cheesecake cupcakes. I’m happy to say I was right!
The Madagascar Vanilla SweetSticks are a such a nice, subtly sweet complement to the cheesecake. And these really are pretty easy to make. Who doesn’t like cheesecake, right?
When you crush the SweetSticks, reserve some to sprinkle on top. I added a few blueberries for a pop of color but feel free to use whatever fruit you have on hand. Vanilla goes with everything.
Yum. Don’t they look amazing? (They were!) Here’s that recipe.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Crush the SweetSticks by putting them in a food processor and pulsing into crumbs, or place them in a plastic baggy and hit with a rolling pin until crushed. Combine crushed SweetSticks, sugar, and melted butter in a large bowl. Reserve about 1/4 cup of this mixture to top your cheesecakes with. Evenly divide the rest of it into 12 lined muffin tins and press into bottom to create a crust. Set muffin tin aside. Beat the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until well-mixed. Add the eggs one at a time and mix after each egg is added until well-combined. Pour the mixture over the cupcake crusts, evenly dividing it between each of the 12 muffin cups. Bake 40-45 minutes or until cheesecakes are almost set. Once cool, top with remaining SweetSticks crumb mixture and fruit if desired. Cool completely before eating. These are best if refrigerated for several hours before digging in.Madagascar Vanilla Cheesecake Cupcakes Recipe

See how the SweetSticks crumbs make such a yummy crust? These are definitely best well-chilled so try your best to be patient. The struggle is real. I know, I know.
Madagascar Vanilla Cheesecake Cupcakes are the perfect dessert for a party or family get together. Simple ingredients, and using the SweetSticks for a crust brings a really unique element to a classic. Let me know what you think if you try these!
