I participated in Mom Blog Tour at the Summer Fancy Food Show (#MomBlogTourFF) on behalf of Wendy’s Bloggers and received Saffron Road products to facilitate my review. The opinions here are my own. You can read my full disclosure policy here.
Saffron Road Snack Products
Last summer Saffron Road was a sponsor of the #MomBlogTourFF at the Summer Fancy Food Show in NYC and it was my first introduction to this brand. My whole family fell in love with their simmer sauces (see all the recipes I made with them here) and we continue to buy and use them regularly.
This year, I was thrilled that Saffron Road chose to sponsor our event again, this time to share with us and all of you their brand new line of snack products! This is a brand I now know and trust for their high quality, healthful foods, and their new products are right in line with those standards, plus they are completely delicious!
Baked Lentil Chips
Saffron Road Baked Lentil Chips are a smart alternative to regular chips. My family loves them and I don’t mind the kids snacking on them because they have 60-70% less fat than traditional chips.
They’re also gluten-free and vegetarian, and because they’re made with lentils they pack a nice protein punch too. Plus look at all those flavors! Cucumber dill is a favorite around here.
These BeanStalks are my kids’ favorite! I think it’s the shape that draws them in and the flavor that keeps them coming back for more.
Plant-based protein comes from cannellini beans, pinto beans, and green peas.
BeanStalks come in three flavors: Cheddar, Sea Salt, and Barbecue which is pictured above. These are my favorite. Aren’t they so cute? I just love the unique shape.
Baked Lentil Crackers
These are delicious. I love crackers for a snack and these Baked Lentil Crackers are so flavorful and as expected with Saffron Road, they are good for you, too.
High in protien and fiber and low in fat. It’s the perfect snack, right? I’ve been munching on a handful as a bedtime snack lately and they’re so satisfying. 5 grams of protein per serving will do that for you!
There are a few flavors and I like the Sea Salt the best. Speaking of sea salt….
Saffron Road has a variety of Crunchy Chickpeas and I actually tried a bunch of them last year. They’re so good on a salad in place of croutons.
Saffron Road has a new flavor now, Sea Salt, and the exciting thing about these is that they are USDA Organic! As I mentioned above with the Lentil Crackers, Sea Salt is one of my favorite flavors. I’ve always liked the Bombay Spice Chickpeas but I don’t know…these are creeping into first! 😉
Easy Cowboy Caviar Recipe
The only thing that makes some of these goodies better is to be able to serve them with a healthy dip. I had Cowboy Caviar for the first time when my sister made it for a get together many years ago. It was a huge hit with the family and we’ve been making it off and on since then.
As recipes often do, this one has evolved and we’ve added and removed ingredients. Okay, mostly added. The more color the better, right? It’s such a pretty dip.
We’ve been chowing down on this with the Sea Salt Lentil Chips. They’re kind of ‘scoopy’ shaped so they’re perfect for hauling a load of Cowboy Caviar from the bowl to your yapper. Here’s the recipe. So easy – just chop up the ingredients and stir it up!
- 15 oz can black eyed peas, drained and rinsed
- 15 oz can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 11 oz can sweet corn, drained
- 4 roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
- ½ cup diced red pepper
- 1 jalapeno, seeded and diced
- ½ red onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bunch cilantro, chopped
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. I added another splash of vinegar.
- Refrigerate at least one hour, preferably overnight to allow the flavors to mingle.
- Serve with assorted Saffron Road Lentil Chips and Crackers.
Do try to plan ahead for when you’re going to need this. It’s definitely best if you let it sit overnight and let the flavors combine a bit.
Feel free to get creative with it! My husband is chowing down right next to me while I’m writing and saying he wishes we would have put more jalapeno in it. I’m thinking about adding an avocado to a serving tomorrow for lunch. (If you want to try that, just do it right before you eat it to one serving at a time or it will turn brown in the dip.)
Served along side of the Saffron Road Lentil Chips it’s a perfectly filling and healthy snack. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and with the combination of the protein in the chips and beans it will leave you feeling satisfied.
Look how much these chips can hold. A sturdy chip is a must for dippers like us and this one definitely stacks up!
