Arm & Hammer is a name I trust for keeping things fresh and eliminating odor. We keep a box of the baking soda in our fridge just like Mom did, and we prefer the carpet cleaner to other brands, too. (When you have pets, you have messes from time to time!) So when we had the opportunity to try their new Clump & Seal Naturals cat litter we were interested in seeing how it differs from other litter we’ve used and if it REALLY did take care of the smelly box.
Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Cat Litter is available at Target which is where we grabbed a bag. The bags are smaller and lighter in weight that what we usually buy, but it actually lasts just as long, maybe longer. I was definitely impressed with that.
This litter is made from natural materials including wood fiber, plant-based clumping agents, minerals and baking soda. I liked all of that – less harsh chemically stuff on your pets. Our cat, Patches, is a senior pet that we adopted and she’s diabetic. We figure anything we can do to eliminate harsh chemicals from her environment can only help so this is a great fit for us and our girl.
Here’s what a fresh litter box of Clump & Seal looks like. (This will be the only time you see my litter box on my blog!) So you can see the particles are pretty fine. We found that it really clumps well so it’s easy to scoop which stretches the littler longer before needing to be completely dumped and changed.
I was most impressed with the odor control. Our litter box is in the laundry room where I spend about 50% of my life. No really, I’m there a lot. I notice if the box stinks and needs some attention. Not only was there no nasty smell with this litter, but I actually thought it smelled good! Seriously, I know how crazy that sounds but it’s true! They do guarantee 7-day odor control which makes perfect sense to me after using it.
There was one drawback: They say it’s low tracking litter but I didn’t really find that to be true. The fine particles stuck to our cat and tracked at least through the laundry room so I found myself grabbing the dustpan regularly. Was it worse than other litter? Mmm, I think it was but not by much. This is a common problem and not one we’ve been able to eliminate with any litter we’ve tried. I just think the smaller litter particles with this variety made it slightly more noticeable.
Patches was pretty happy with her box! You never know how cats, finicky little buggers, will react when you change their environment in any way. She didn’t bat an eye so it was a win for us. We really like this brand for the amazing odor control and the safer, natural materials used to make it, keeping our girl safer and healthier!
